Obituary for Mark Allen Upchurch

Mark Allen Upchurch deceased at the age of 46 on September 16, 2020. He passed in his residence located in Spring Valley of Houston, Texas.

Mark was born October 29, 1973 in Columbus, Ohio, and his parents are James and Ruth Upchurch. His mother deceased in 2017. Mark earned the level of Eagle Scout in 1989 while living in Duluth, Georgia. Mark always enjoyed an adventure. As an example, during his time in the scouts he enjoyed camping at Valley Forge and Gettysburg, in the snow!

Mark graduated from Kingwood H.S in 1992 and then attended the University of Houston and the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a BBA degree in Finance in 1997. He later obtained recognition as a Certified Financial Planner(CFP), and built a successful business associated with Centaurus Financial.

Mark was a charitable person, giving both his time and finances to others. Throughout his life he was always an interesting person to both talk and spend time with. He has been on mission trips and has served as a board member of Elijah Challenge, a Christian based organization focusing on missions to India. He attended the Sweetwater Church in Sugarland, Texas.

He has always enjoyed fishing, traveling, and helping people. He was almost unbeatable in Monopoly! Most of all he enjoyed fast cars such as Corvettes, Porsches, and Lamborghinis. It must have been prophetic for one of his grandfathers gave him a miniature, three inch long, sports car when Mark was about eight years old.

Mark is survived by: his daughter, Juliana Upchurch; Kori Upchurch mother of his daughter; Jim Upchurch his brother, Tina Upchurch his sister-in-law, and James B. Upchurch his nephew; and his father, James Upchurch.

Four qualities which describe Mark are: generous, fun loving, interesting to spend time with, and love of fast cars. We will miss him.
