Gail Carney (Alles)
Gail Carney, 63, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away on Monday, August 17 at her home in The Woodlands.
Gail was born in Oak Park, Illinois to Dr. George Alles and Elaine Alles née Karras on September 7, 1957. She went to school at Proviso West High School in Hillside, Illinois. She studied at Drake University and Elmhurst College with a concentration in Biology. During her time at Drake, Gail was a proud member of the Delta Zeta sorority. Gail was retired but previously worked as a clerk at Macy’s where she was known for her proficiency at gift-wrapping. She also spent her time serving on the Board of Directors for The Woodlands Water Agency having been elected to the position in 2009 and she was the former president of the College Park Village Association. She was also an avid player of online games who was affectionately known as “Cardqueen” to her many friends in the Lord of Ages and Villagers & Heroes communities.
Gail was known for her larger-than-life personality, including her obsessions with penguins and going all-out to celebrate various holidays. No matter the occasion, she always brought her grandchildren a gift whenever she saw them. She was beloved and respected and she will be greatly missed by her many family and friends from all over.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. George Alles and Elaine Alles née Karras, daughter Mary Lasaine, and her grandson, Kyle Carney.
Gail is survived by her husband, Ed Carney, her sisters Debbie (the late Dr. James) Vacco and Margo (John) Engel, her stepchildren Brad Carney, Colin (Jennifer) Carney, and Emily (Travis) McLane, and her grandchildren, Addison, Blake, and Luke Carney. Gail was also a loving aunt to George, Jackson, Layne, Jared, and Bailey Engel as well as Aldo and Alex Vacco. Gail was also the Great Aunt to Johnny, Duke, and Piper Engel.
Funeral and visitation services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, August 22 at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble, Texas. Private burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad Carney, Colin Carney, Tim Sadlon, Travis McLane and Monty McLane.
