Obituary for Alice Marie Amerson (Platt)

Alice Amerson: June 27, 1944 – August 15, 2020

Alice Marie Platt Amerson was called home to Heaven on August 15, 2020. She was surrounded by family, friends, and memories in her final days. Alice was at peace and looked forward to being in Heaven with the Lord.
Alice was born in Houston, Texas June 27, 1944 to Helen Louise Grant Platt and Thomas William Platt, Jr. She married her husband, Ollie Amerson, on December 30, 1961. Alice’s first son, Jeffrey Wade, was born June 11, 1963 and her second son, David William, was born four years later August 29, 1967. Her granddaughter, Christie Elyse Amerson, was born July 10, 1995. She also had many cats she loved over her lifetime.
Alice served a living God and a living Savior, Jesus. She was an active member of Victory Baptist Church in her younger married days and then became an active member of Memorial Baptist Church. She also attended services at Lakewood Church under the ministry of John Osteen. After moving to Spring five years ago, she attended services at Crossroads Baptist Church in the Woodlands. Alice believed the Holy Spirit is as alive today as in the Bible and the gifts and power exhibited in the Bible also exist today. She believed in spreading the good news and never shied away from witnessing to others. She was a loyal servant to the Lord. Alice never questioned or complained after illness. After entering hospice care, she remained calm and peaceful and her face would light up when talking about going Home. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind Alice knew where she was going and she looks forward to the rest of her family and friends joining her. “See you on the other side,” she said.
Alice was incredibly devoted to her family. Her time was divided between her love of serving God and her love of doing for her family. She spent her life doing for others. There was nothing she would not do for her two sons, Jeff and David, David’s family, and her granddaughter Christie. Even in her final days, her thoughts never wavered from doing for others. Alice would shop and prepare for the holidays, birthdays, loved decorating her home for holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween, and loved celebrating with her family. Everything she did, she did for them.
Alice and her husband, Ollie, enjoyed many activities and socializing. They collected old cars and were members of the Special Interest Fords of the ‘50’s club. Alice also enjoyed socializing with the Ya-Ya Sisterhood of the Red Hat Mamas! She loved all things Disney and Harry Potter and she loved watching Harry Potter movies with her granddaughter Christie. Oh, how she loved movies!
Alice is now in Heaven in constant celebration and is waiting for her family and friends to one day join her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ollie, her parents, Helen and Thomas, and her brother Louis Platt.
She is survived by her sons Jeff Amerson and David Amerson; her granddaughter Christie Amerson; daughter-in-law Michele Amerson, her daughters Brittney, Brittany’s fiancé Trevor Kubena, and Chelsea, Chelsea’s husband Cole Sullivan, and their children Carter and Maybrie. She is also survived by her fellow mother-in-law and “sister”, Betty Moody, her cat, Elsie Moo Kitty, and close friends Berdyne Hill and Pat Johnson.
Alice loved the song “Shall We Gather at the River” and she expressed that she had asked for a home in Heaven with a river running by it. Alice is now in her new home with a river that runs by it and flows by the Throne of God. She’s looking forward to the day the rest of her family and friends can gather with her.
