Obituary for Martin A. Dudley

Martin A. Dudley
Martin Alan “Papa-Jack” Dudley
August 31st , 1946 – July 25th, 2020

Jack Dudley was born on the 31st of August, 1946 in Waxahachie, Texas. He passed away at the age of 73 years old on Saturday, the 25th of July 2020 in Houston, Texas. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Francis Theodore and Lillie Mae Dudley, and his brothers James Frank and Francis Theodore Dudley II.

Jack is survived by his childhood sweetheart, the love of his life and his lovely wife of 54 years, Peggy Lynn Dudley and his three daughters and sons-in-law, Brad and Kim Seabranch, Cee and Kristi Freeman and Duane and Kayla Cannon, and his eight grand-children, Meaghan Smith and her husband Ryan, Ashley Brinsfield and her husband Delton, Chase Seabranch and his wife Amanda, Justin Freeman, Madyson Freeman, Colton Cannon and his wife Morgan, Cody Cannon and his wife Tiffany, and Kelsey Cannon, and his four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Dawson and a soon to be born baby boy Smith , and Luke and Jackson Brinsfield, and his sister Jan and her husband John Haydel, and his sister-in-law Mamie Dudley, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends that he considered family.

Jack graduated from South Houston Highschool and attended San Jacinto Junior College before going to work for Petrotex. In 1973, he opened and ran Dudley’s Men Wear in North Shore for eleven years. In 1984, he felt called into the ministry and founded MACO Construction to be an advocate for Pastors and assist them in building their churches. Along his journey, he was a successful businessman, developing other businesses including storage facilities, Property Management and other commercial partnerships which made him a successful leader in his community.

Jack was a man with a servant’s heart. He served as a member of the Northshore Rotary Club, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, he served on the school board of Galena Park Independent School District, he was a member of the North Channel Chamber of Commerce, he served on the board of the North Shore YMCA, he served on the board of Pleasant Hills Children’s Home for over 30 years, and he served as a layman on the missionary review board for the General Council of the Assemblies of God.

Jack's diverse interests included working in the outdoors, hunting and spending time with his family. So many family memories were built around a campfire at the deer lease! He enjoyed time together with his family building feeder pens, clearing roads to the deer blinds, filling feeders, or just dreaming together of what he could build next! Thanksgiving in Doss became a Dudley family tradition and a few years ago, he purchased property in Doss and named it the Antler Ridge Ranch. His desire was for his family to always have a place to get away and spend time together because family was the most important thing to him.

He was a long-time member of Greens Bayou Assembly of God Church, now known as Crossroads Fellowship, and he served on the Board as a Deacon for over 40 years. During that time, he was a huge supporter of his Pastor, his church and the ministries of the church. He has always had a soft spot in his heart for missions and supported missions giving through the church and sent many others on missions trips around the world. Finally, in 2018 he got to go on his first missions trip to the Holy Land. It got in his blood and in 2019 he went on his first trip to Haiti and sponsored some children there through One Child and turned around a few months later and went on another trip with Convoy of Hope to Alaska. He had a giving heart and today he is reaping his eternal reward for those years of selfless gifts to others.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday evening July 28th, 2020 at Crossroads Fellowship Church located at 12110 East Sam Houston Parkway North, Houston, Texas 77044. There will be a viewing for friends and family from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM and the Celebration of Life will begin at 7:00 PM. An internment and graveside service will be held on Wednesday morning July 29th at 10:00 AM at Rosewood Funeral Home located at 2602 South Houston Avenue, Humble, Texas 77396. We understand that many friends and family need to practice social distancing during this time, so for those who are more comfortable viewing remotely, we will be broadcasting the Celebration of Life service online at Crossroads Fellowship http://cfhouston.church/, as well as live streamed on Crossroads Fellowship’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/CFhouston

In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in his name be directed to Pleasant Hills Children’s Home.
