Obituary for Mary Ruth Skinner (Gatlin)

Mary Ruth  Skinner (Gatlin)
Mary Ruth Gatlin Gray Skinner passed to eternal life in Heaven on Monday, June 15, 2020. She was born in Britton, Oklahoma during a major snow storm on March 2, 1930 to Archie and Pauline Gatlin. She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Susan and her husband Wayne Hall, her first husband George E Gray and Icy Walter Skinner her second husband. She is also preceded in death by her dear sister in law Evelyn Gatlin.

She is survived by Daughters: Vickie Miller and husband David, Valerie Cooper and husband Phillip, Amelia Dunlap and husband Tim, she was blessed by seven grandchildren: Matthew Miller and wife Lisa, Christi Rasner and husband James, Cindi Tharp and husband Lance, Cheri Jaster and husband Michael
Catherine Calzacorta and husband Jeff, Cara Hall Fields, Bradley Cooper and wife Sarah, she was also blessed by 11 great grandchildren: Brittney Martin, Aimee Miller, Dana Miller, Prudence Tharp, Zoei Tharp, Gracie Jaster, Zachary Jaster, Nolan Jaster, Finn Fields, Skyler Cooper, Skyler’s baby brother to be born in October; Brother, James Gatlin; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends.

Mary attended Worth Baptist Church in Ft Worth, TX in her years before moving to Senior Living Facilities. Even though she was no longer well enough to attend live services, she watched christian shows daily and read her bible. She loved the Lord and her family. Mary loved to read. She could read an entire novel in a day. Even in her last few months of life she read daily. Mary had many titles. She was called Mother, Mom and Mama by her girls, Boo Roo by her brother, Maw Maw Mary, Grandma, Grandma Mary and Mare Mare by her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She was also known as Aunt Mare Ruth, Mary and Mare Ruth.

She loved clothes, jewelry and shoes and was known for her flair for fashion. Before moving to a Senior Facility she loved gardening and her home. Mary also enjoyed playing her piano. Before her husband’s retirement she enjoyed traveling the United States and to other countries. In 1982 and 1983 she lived in Seoul, Korea. She enjoyed this time of her life very much. Later Mary and her second husband retired to Florida. After his death, she moved back to her beloved Texas to be near family.
