Condolence: Stacy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. It has been such a pleasure and an honor to have known Rick as a friend and fellow planner for +/-30 years. We first met through TxAPA, and he worked on a couple of consulting projects in my early years at the City of Victoria in the mid-90's while he was at Wilbur Smith. We stayed in contact through the years through APA and later on Facebook. About 6 years ago I decided to buy a nice BBQ pit/smoker, so I called my BBQ guru, Rick. He not only recommended his pit builder in Houston, but he met me there and helped me pick one out. He also gave me containers of his "secret" rubs and took me to lunch that day. A couple of years ago, he hauled his BBQ trailer to Halletsville to cook for my wife's niece's wedding. He was going to come cook for my step-daughter's wedding in September. I was really looking forward to spending that time with him. Rick will be missed. He was a funny, kind, gentle and generous man.

Condolence: Stacy and Family, Please accept our most sincere condolences. Our prayers are with you all. I will treasure the years working with Rick at WSA always. As you know, he held a wealth of knowledge in many areas of transportation, and in life, and was always willing to share it with his colleagues and friends. His kind heart and warm smile lit up the world of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He has left a great legacy, and Mike and I are proud as continued friends and fellow Aggies to have known him. "Here"

Condolence From: Chris Olavson
Condolence: My sincere condolences to all of Rick’s family, his unexpected passing was a great shock to all of his friends. I have enjoyed the video tribute and although I did not know his family personally I could see from the pictures that he was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He also had another family that will mourn the loss, the transportation planning professionals in Houston and across Texas. I have known Rick since he started out as a planner at WSA and his great humor and story telling will be sorely missed. Just watched the video feed of the service together with hundred of his friends, thank you so much for allowing us to share the moment. Although I could not be there in person, it was comforting to be able to take farewell with a good friend. Rest In Peace my friend, Chris Olavson

Condolence: Dear Stacy and family, I was a classmate of Rick’s in the Landscape Architecture program Class of ‘81. I’ve stayed in touch with Rick over the years and always enjoyed seeing him at seminars, conferences and most recently at A&M last fall at the Outstanding Alumni Banquet. I speak for all of our class when I say that Rick was loved by all. He was loved because he loved and lifted us all. He was always upbeat, encouraging, a true friend to all. His smile and laugh and big hugs will be something I cherish. I enjoyed his Facebook posts that highlighted his love of family, God, country and Texas A&M. I life well lived! My God continue to bless you and comfort you during these sad days. I am certain the love Rick had for you will surround you forever.

Condolence: Dear Stacy and the entire Mobley family, please accept our deepest and profound sympathy during this difficult time of loss. We were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Rick’s passing. We will always remember him as a kind, gentle and caring friend and neighbor who loved his Lake Livingston and the Commodore Cape community he served. We are grateful for his beautification efforts in planting numerous trees at the front entrance that will continue to grow in his honor for many years to come. We will always remember the great barbecues and chill cook offs he organized. But most of all we will miss his friendly smile and hand waves as he and his beloved dog Chip cruised the neighbored. Although his life was way too short, Rick certainly lived it to the fullest surrounded by the family he loved and the many neighbors, friends and colleagues he cared so much about.

Condolence: My condolences to Rick's family. I worked with Rick for many years at WSA, and we shared many executive meetings at Corporate. I also joined him in his Houston office for project work, never knowing I'd end up living in Louisiana and working more closely with him. Rick was a credit to our firm and to the Transportation profession. His steady leadership put our firm on the map in Texas, but he did it gracefully; he was a "people person", so his manners, graciousness and friendship made him a personal success with everyone. He will be missed.

Condolence From: John Shanahan, Past TX APA President
Condolence: We will miss Rick, gone way too soon. He loved his family, friends, professional colleagues -- and our Fightin' Texas Aggies. He gave much of himself to improving the practice of planning in Texas and to serving his fellow planners. I am grateful for his friendship and pray peace, comfort and healing to family and friends.

Condolence From: Richard & Sheila Venverloh
Condolence: Dear Stacy and family, We were saddened and in disbelief to hear of Rick’s sudden passing. I know he was excited and was working diligently on the plans to build a new home here at the lake and we were just as excited to have he and Stacy as our full time neighbor. Rick was President of our POA and involved in all things relating to better our neighborhood, from planting of trees to BBQ cook-offs. We have lost one of the kindest and gentlest people I have ever had the privilege to know. We will miss him riding around in his golf cart with his fur baby pal always smiling, waving or stopping to talk. It’s a sad time for us all. We pray for God to give Stacy strength to carry on in this sad and difficult time.

Condolence: I received the news of Rick's passing with great sadness. Rick and I met at Wilbur Smith in 1988 and have kept up with each other over the years. We recently got to work with each other again on a current TxDOT project. He was a good friend, always smiling and with a ready handshake. He will be missed very much. My prayer for the family is to remember his smile and happy disposition as you work through your grief.

Condolence: Stacy, Ricky, Donny, Mary, Andrea and the entire Mobley family, my heart breaks for you! I treasure so many memories of Rick, from the time I met him with Dave in 1974. I watched him grow from a fun-loving teenager to an even more fun-loving husband, dad and friend to all. What a fine example of a compassionate, loving, caring person! The love he showed my kids on all those wonderful Thanksgiving celebrations and visits to our home made an indelible mark. The love he showed to me and my family after Dave's passing was extraordinary. Who would have guessed that he would also be taken from us far too soon? He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. Treasure his memory!

Condolence: Dear Stacy and Family, So many of us share in your sorrow and grief of losing Rick. Its hard to describe what a power house of a human being he was and how eclipsed the world seems now without him in it. He never seemed to have a bad day and just loved human interaction. Rick hired me at WSA 20 years ago and he looked after me like I was family from that day forward. And boy did he love his WSA family. He kept us together through the years, long after the demise of our company, always organizing reunions so we could stay connected. Rick knew where we were at all times, new companies, new countries etc. And as a friend, as I’m sure many will attest, he was that friend you could go to about anything…and he would move heaven and earth to help you in your time of need. Rick was so genuine and caring, with the biggest heart that anyone who knew him was grafted onto. His light in this world may be extinguished but not his legacy of love, care, kindness and incredibly generosity. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace.

Condolence: We were so shocked and saddened to learn of Rick's passing. Rick always had such a pleasant attitude and was the kind of person who always had something nice to say when he saw you. When we were doing quite a bit of business traveling it became a game to look for him in various airports across the country because it seemed we ran into him at least every other trip. Stacy, please accept our most sincere condolences for you and your family. May God grant you much comfort and peace as you adjust to life without Rick. Rest in Peace, Rick.
