Obituary for William J "Bones" Pettibone

William J "Bones" Pettibone
William (Bill) Pettibone, aka Bones, 82, died on March 20, 2020, with his family by his side in Houston, Texas, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Bill was born in Coldwater, Michigan on December 21, 1937 to Russell and Elsie Pettibone. He was raised in University Park in Dallas, Texas playing sports for Jesuit High School. He joined the Navy after high school and proudly served for 14 years.

Bill was a proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma and was never seen without some OU gear. In 1971, he married Judy Pettibone, and they had 2 children. He worked for 27 years as a Right of Way agent and traveled all over the United States.

Bill was an avid lover of sports, especially if the Dallas Cowboys or ANY team from the Oklahoma Sooners were playing and he was always trying to drum up a poker game if he could on Friday nights.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Elsie and his brother Robert (Bob) Kuchta.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy, his son Patrick Pettibone and wife Crystal, his daughter Amy Simpson and husband Robbie, as well as his brother Jerry Pettibone and wife Susy of Norman Oklahoma, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Rosewood Funeral Home, Humble. A private graveside will take place 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Forest Park Lawndale, Houston, Texas.

In lieu of usual remembrances donations may be made to Houston Hospice www.houstonhospice.org
