Dorothy N  Snellings (Baker)
Dorothy Nell Snellings was born on May 27,1922 in Memphis, Texas. She was called to her heavenly home on March 5, 2020. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

In 1997, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Jasper Snellings. They were members of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Houston in the early mid 1940s and later moved to Humble in 1949 and became members of the United Methodist Church of Humble. She was an active member in all areas of the church. She was the church secretary. She was the longest tenured member of the Church’s garden club joining in 1949. Dorothy and Jasper were members of the choir for over 40+ years. Mother was an alto and dad sang tenor and are singing together in the Heavenly Choir.

After Jasper’s death, mother along with Jean Grawl formed an organization calling themselves the Merry Widows. Prior to this, Dorothy had started an organization named “TNT”, “Tried ’n True”, at the church. Dorothy led this group from its inception in1987, but retired as their president about 9 years ago, but continued to attend. For her efforts, she along with Arthur Tipton were honored by the city of Humble’s Mayor Donnie McMannes by proclaiming February 8, 2015, “Arthur and Dorothy Day”. Both also received letters from the bishop of the Methodist Church. She had been an active leader in the Methodist Youth Fellowship. Dorothy was active as a Cub Scout leader with her three sons. She helped with the Humble Little League when it was initiated in the early 1960s. All her sons were active in sports and she made an effort to attend every game.

She is survived by: Her three sons: David, Paul and his wife Anna, and Larry and his wife SuZánne; Grandchildren: Thomas Snellings, Matthew Snellings, Kevin Schramm, & Lesley Ann (Snellings) Nickelson and husband Mark Nickelson; Great-Grand Children: Bethany Snellings, Zachary Snellings, Savannah Snellings, Kaiden Snellings, Trevor Schramm, Kenzie Schramm, and Lindsay Nickelson; Her sister Jean Laws and brother Bob Baker and wife Sarah; Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Visitation for the Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be at the First United Methodist Church of Humble, 800 E. Main St, Humble, Texas 77338
Family Visitation: 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Open Visitation: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
The Celebration Service: 1:00 PM
After the service, all are invited to the grave site at Rosewood Cemetery,
After the grave site service, a reception will be held back at the First Methodist Church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to FUM Church (Humble) or an organization of your choice.

Pallbearers are Thomas Snellings, Zachary Snellings, Bobby Scott Baker, Cole Baker, Matthew Snellings, Neal Kolber, and Shaune Kolber.
