Obituary for Curtis M Jones

Curtis Milton Jones was born on December 20th, 1943 in Houston, Texas; raised in Pasadena, Texas. He graduated from Tarkington High School and then went on to Jacksonville Baptist College where he studied ministry. He ministered numerous churches early in his career as well as taught special education at New Caney High School. Curtis eventually built his own church in 1981; God’s Lighthouse. He ministered God’s Lighthouse for 33 years. In total he served the Lord in ministry by ministering and pastoring for 55 years.

Curtis was creative and loved working with his hands, he enjoyed studying the Bible to great lengths, and he loved sports. Curtis especially loved spending time with his family; particularly going on long rides with his daughter Stacy.

He will greatly be missed by his loving wife Shirley Ann Jones of 38 years. His children; Brook Jones (Carolynn Jones), Stacy Walters, Chad Walters (Sarah Walters). His grandchildren; Jason Hunt, Victoria Dominguez (Santanna Dominguez), Phillip Hunt, Megan Walters, Curtis Jones, Morgan Walters. His great-grandchildren; Aubrie Jones, Liam Jones, Noellie Dominguez.


On Thursday, March 12th, 2020 at Rosewood-Humble, the immediate family will have a private viewing from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and other family members from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The memorial service will be held the following day on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 2:00p.m., at Rosewood Funeral Home-Humble, with Curtis’s nephews Pastor Corbey Jones and Pastor Collin Jones officiating. Following the service the burial will be at the cemetery at Rosewood Memorial Park in Humble, Texas. (located next to the chapel on the same grounds)
