Obituary for Lois Mildred Meshell (Epperson)

Lois Mildred Meshell (Epperson)
Lois Mildred Meshell, 85, of Porter, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 28, 2020.

Lois was the youngest of four children born to Thomas and Julia Epperson on August 11, 1934 in Porter, Texas.

Growing up in Porter, she graduated from New Caney High School on May 24, 1951 and married Stanley S. Meshell the very next day on May 25, 1951.

Her first child was born in 1952 and when the baby was a year old, Lois, her husband, and baby boarded a Greyhound bus to Healdsburg, California for better financial opportunities. In 1961 and four additional children later, the family returned to Porter, where Lois spent the rest of her life.

Lois attended First Baptist Church in Porter for many, years. She loved the Lord. She was also excited about Missionaries and the work they pursued. She supported both home and foreign missions financially and with prayer. Lois did not always have a lot of money, but she always gave 10% or more of what she had every month to her Church. It was important to her.

Lois was a very giving person, always wanting to help people any way she could. She gave to and supported St. Jude Hospital and Samaritian's Purse. These two organizations were near and dear to her heart. She would pay for a youth at her Church to go to camp when they otherwise may not have been able to go. She made baby quilts and sent them with Church members when they went on mission trips to other countries.

Lois was a full time wife and mother. She made it her mission to be a good mother since she lost her own mother just one month shy of her fourth birthday.

Lois leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughter Debbie and husband Joe, daughter Jeanett Karen Miller and husband Curtis, her daughter Cathy Southwell and husband David, and her son Larry Meshell. Grandchildren: Crystal, Katharine, Ty, Michael, Tommy, and Marty, numerous great grandchildren and a great great grand daughter.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Stanley S. Meshell, son, Ronald S. Meshell, parents Thomas and Julia Epperson, two sisters, Ruby Hollis and Ramona Jones, and one brother Leo Epperson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Samaritian's Purse or St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Visitation will be at First Baptist Church, FM 1314 in Porter on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 11:00am with a funeral service to follow at 12 Noon. Immediately following the service, she will be carried to her final resting place at White Oak Cemetery on Loop 494 by Pallbearers:

Michael Cano,Grandson, Crystal Esparza, Grandaughter, Marty Meshell, Grandson, Kolby Meshell, Great Grandson, Tommy Cano, Grandson, and David Southwell, Son-in-Law.
