Obituary for
James Franklin Schiller
Jim was born in 1938 and went home to the Lord on January 24, 2020.
Jim Schiller was a wonderful husband and the Love of his wife Carolyn’s life. He was an amazing father to their children, a great provider for their family, and a great friend to many. Jim was very proud of his children, their spouses, and his 5 grandchildren.
Jim was just a good old-fashioned country boy at heart. He had a soft heart for animals and a great love for gardening. He grew up in the country on a small farm in Temple, Texas, with his Mom and Dad, and brother Robert. Jim started out working construction jobs with his father. He became very skilled in building homes and buildings and it showed with all of the handy-man work he could do around the house, at his job, on his rent houses, and with his cabin and buildings he built in the country which he loving called “The Place”.
Jim has so many special memories with his friends and family. In his younger days he loved to race cars including his T-Bucket and Dragster with his brother Robert. When he arrived in Houston he began working at Southwest Oilfield Products. He later retired from Southwest as a shop foreman after 35 years. Jim loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and most of all, spending time with his loving wife and family.
After retiring, he was able to do what he loved to do most, gardening. He had a very nice garden at home and he had two large gardens up at “The Place”. He grew more tomatoes than we knew what to do with. He had lots of other vegetables too but lots of tomatoes. “The Place” was his home away from home. He absolutely loved it, especially when he could be there with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Helen Schiller, and his brother – Robert Schiller
Jim is survived by his wife of 44 amazing and wonderful years, Carolyn Schiller, his son – Timothy Schiller and Wife, Stacy Schiller, his daughter, Glenda Ann Miller and Husband, James Miller.
