Condolence From: Dorothy Pesce
Condolence: Sherry and Hundl family: This is tough. The only way to endure it is to lean on God and know that Duane is in Heaven and is now our advocate. Duane was larger than life. He had a wonderful, full life. I knew you two when you were dating in high school and he used to come over to Mamaw's house to pick you up. He would tease me (a lot) and he used to twirl my long ponytail and say, "look, it's a helicopter." Of course, at my tender age, I was dutifully annoyed. He was a great comfort through life's many trials and my heart breaks for you. He was a strong man to lean on and made you feel like you could get through tough times and still find life wonderful. My mother used to say, "that boy is never in a a bad mood!" We loved the pictures! I wish I could make things different. God bless you, Sherry and your family!

Condolence: It is so sad to think of Duane being gone from this world and that I will never see him again, my dear cousin. Duane was always a happy-go-lucky kind of person, joking around, and just loving life. He left a beautiful family and legacy, and my deepest sympathy is extended to you all.

Condolence: Duane I’m really go to miss you buddy. I have a ton of fond memories looking back at the things we have done the past 56 or so years. Starting with the fun parties and great concerts, Ray Charles & The Stones, we went to during our high school days. Those nights we spent helping build the annual St. Thomas bonfires were legendary. Double dates were fun and often because our future wives were best friends attending Austin H.S. One date I remember in particular was the time we picked the girls up after an Austin H.S. football game. Mary was in her Band uniform and Sherry in her Brigade uniform. Sherry was so afraid someone was going to see her sitting too close to a boy in the back seat of my little Morris-Minor in her Brigade uniform. That there was funny, but not to Sherry. I remember the glow on Sherry’s face and the sparkle in her eyes whenever she could make you laugh. Man, yours was the best laugh I have ever heard.
Thank you for your service in the U.S Air Force Reserves and long time commitment to serving others by your devoted work in the Houston Fire Department.
Prayers to Sherry and Family and as always – Keep the Faith
P.S. Since you’re there, how about putting in a good word with the Lord about a brother!

Condolence From: Renette Jasmer
Condolence: Duane had such a huge sense of humor. He was a lot like his Dad in that there was always a joke or funny story he had to tell you. I heard from a fire fighter that he thought Duane was a wonderful person and the best Captain he ever worked for. Duane, Sherry and Kim came to our house to give Duane's mother her Christmas gift before they left for Austin and Duane always had to be next to his mother. He had his arm around her with that big smile on his face. In other pictures, he had to be kissing her on her forehead or dancing with her. He had a large heart and was always kind. We, his sisters, always thought he looked like a movie star when he was in his early 20's. Life growing up with Duane was so much fun. My husband and I went to Alaska on a cruise with him, Sherry and his brother Joe and wife Virginia, and his other sister Candice and Ed. We also all went on a cruise together in the Mediterranean to different countries and of course Duane kept us laughing the whole time. He will be missed at family gatherings but we will see him in Heaven one day! Love you big brother. Renette Hundl Jasmer
