Obituary for
Nora Gladys Castelnuovo
Nora Castelnuovo made her way to Heaven Tuesday November 26, 2019. She was born on March 10th, 1932 in a small city in Argentina where she spent her childhood. She graduated from College as a teacher and dedicated 25 years of her life to teach and inspire children. She used to say the best legacy that parents can leave to their children is a good education.
She visited places that she never thought she would like Malaysia, Bali, Hong Kong. She ended up a world traveler and even went to Disney World a time or two. She eventually convinced her husband to pack up their belongings and move to Houston to be close to her daughter. The US was then her home and she did not want to go back to Argentina.
She loved sports and was one of the first women basketball players in her hometown. She was known for her tenacity and strong personality which she passed on to her daughter.
Mom loved children and every time she had the opportunity to be around them she was overjoyed. One child came to see her in the memory facility and ended up giving Nora her precious doll. Nora was ecstatic and used to sleep with the doll next to her.
One of the most important things Nora did was to be a compadre of my husband. She took his side on most issues and she was a very significant component of the Houston family that we now have. When she found out she had breast cancer, the first thing she thought about was what Charlie, her loved son in law wanted for dinner. This shows her devoted love for her family and especially for her son-in-law.
One of the amazing things that we found out about Nora is that she was really a dog lover. When she went to a friend’s house and the dog came up to her she welcomed it as you can see by the photograph.
Nora lived a long and fruitful life, and we are very thankful for the time we share with her. She showed us what unconditional love is all about.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years Roberto, her daughter Carolina and son in law Charlie.
