Obituary for Milton Gordon Glenn

Milton “Country” Gordon Glenn

Milton Gordon Glenn, age 88, of Huffman, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 23, 2019. Milton was born on May 21st, 1931 to David Delbert and Grace Rogers Glenn in Texas and lived on the Glenn farm in Glenn, Texas (Dickens County). To his family and friends he was known as “Country”.

After graduating from Port Neches High School in 1949, Country attended Lamar College and graduated with a Chemical Engineering degree in 1953. He served as the first class president when the institution became Lamar University and he was a member of the Engineer Club.

While attending the university, Country married Mary Barbara Stout, his high school sweetheart, on July 25, 1953. Country worked as a Chemical Engineer in the tire industry and retired from General Tire as Vice President in 1977. After retiring he became a partner with Ronald Mark Associates, a plastics brokering company. In 1995 Country started B&C Plastics, his own plastics brokering company. Country never fully retired and was always involved in home renovation projects and was everyone’s go to “Mr. Fix it”. He did finishing work on he and Barbara’s first home and rebuilt his current residence more than once.

Country loved being with family and friends. Some of the fondest memories for his children were the long car trips from Ohio to Texas to visit cousins. The Glenn residence was always made a welcome haven with tons of food and fun for everyone. It was the place to hang out, play games, cards, dominos, and watch movies. It was truly a second home to many.

Country enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer and loved taking the family on long camping excursions in a popup camper. During these trips he taught his family to play cards, fish, crab, hunt, and dig for precious gemstones.

Country was a true servant and devout Christian. He received much fulfillment in helping others and serving in the community with the Knights of Columbus in Huffman, Texas where he would put his grilling skills to work for many events. One time he cooked so many briskets he injured his shoulder. Country was loved by his family, friends and neighbors. He was like a second dad to many. He was the type of man people just liked to be around. He never met a stranger.

Country is preceded in death by his parents David Delbert and Grace Rogers Glenn, his loving wife Mary Barbara Glenn, his sister-in-law Colleen Schmidt, and his nephews Mark D. Glenn and Scott W. Glenn.
