Obituary for Linda Newberry (Fowler)

Linda Marie Fowler Newberry, 70, passed away after a long battle with cystic fibrosis at her home Monday, November 18, 2019 with her husband by her side. A Memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, December 7th at Rosewood Funeral Home located at 7900-8152 Rankin Road, Humble, Texas with a reception to follow at her home.
Linda was born in Waco, Texas to John and Doris Fowler. She married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Keith Newberry, in 1968. She moved a lot over her life, first to Germany where she had two of her daughters while being an Air Force wife, and then back to North Texas to have her third. Always one to keep busy, she enjoyed teaching PE and running her races when she wasn’t making clothes, tending the garden or cooking homemade meals. After moving to El Paso, she fulfilled a life long dream by graduating from UTEP with her BSN and became a Registered Nurse. Her faith always brought her joy and comfort, growing stronger on her Emmaus Walks. Linda and Keith eventually settled in Huffman, Texas, to be close to her girls where she finished her nursing career as a nursing coordinator at Kelsey Seybold.
Growing up her talent for basketball was matched by her love of helping her grandparents on the farm. She was in her element at gatherings of friends or family and took great pride in documenting and sharing family recipes. She not only had a bright green thumb, but her knack for crafting was top notch. She was truly at home in the the outdoors, especially in the mountains of Colorado, however if you wanted her heart to sing, all you needed was a good tune. Her grandchildren were her world but she would not have been who she was without her other half…her soulmate.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Linda is survived by her husband of 52 years, Keith Newberry and their fur baby, Eli; her oldest daughter Sheila and her husband Jeff Griffith of Crosby, Texas, with their three children, Cory, Cadee, and Carlee; her second daughter Shelly and her husband David Kasper of Huffman, Texas, with their two children, Wyatt and Laney; her youngest daughter Stephanie and her husband Michael Walsh of Cypress, Texas, with her two children Aidan and Callum; her sister Carole Cline of Morgans Point Resort, Texas; and her brother Victor and wife, Lori Fowler of Waco, Texas.
