Condolence From: Mark S. Ramsey, P.E.
Condolence: Our deepest condolences to Diana and Clint's family and friends. We've lost a giant among us.

On a personal note, Clint was my political mentor and advisor for my 7+ years on the State Republican Executive Committee, as I seceded him in representing SD7. Our focus was different—his focus was Rules, mine was issues—but it made for great teamwork. In the early years I would often talk with Clint on what we could or could not do under the rules. Later he helped me craft rules to make the party even more transparent and grassroots oriented. Thank you, Clint.

Clint was a friend with an encyclopedic knowledge and memory of both the party and of professional oil and gas issues. While most of our weekly or more often conversations while he drove home from work or drove to Austin were focused on political situations in the county and state, some were related to oil and gas since we both worked in that industry. Clint was the first geologist to actually put forward the idea that there could be large reservoirs of oil underneath the salt layers in the Gulf of Mexico and elsewhere—an idea he was correct on and that has helped mankind immensely over the years—effectively opening up oil supplies for hundreds of years in the future—there is no oil shortage—largely due to deepwater subsalt discoveries.

Though not formally ON the SREC now, Clint loyally and energetically showed up for our quarterly meetings anyway—helping tutor me and others on rules and issues and more importantly, strategies in play before the body. A week or two before he died, we were talking and he was really looking forward to the December 2020 SREC meeting, which would mark his 100th SREC meeting to attend—he had only missed a literal handful in the past 25 years!

In spite of his passion for politics and business, he had the rare ability to keep some balance in his life. While our conversations with Clint were important, when he pulled into his driveway the conversations would wrap up, with his attention then changing to the love of his life, Diana. Everything political was secondary to her.

In short, we lost a giant of a man—intellectually, politically, professionally—and many of us lost a very good friend. The kind of friend that could diplomatically and with grace point out when we were wrong, and was uplifting and complimentary when we needed it most. We miss him already. RIP Clint Moore. Thank you, Clint.

Highlights of some important Republican Party of Texas rule changes Clint orchestrated

Rule 23A – Opened up grassroots participation in the Texas convention – precinct designations – largest convention in the USA—in attending a ceremony at Ellington Field to welcome President Trump to Texas, he recounted this grassroots participation rule change as one of the most important things that made the Texas party more energized than those of most other states. That was a week before he died far too soon. Thank you, Clint.

Rule 34A, 38, 39, 40 – opened up grassroots participation in the national convention and national party operations– most don’t realize that for many states, participation at national conventions is largely for the appointed elite big donors. Not so in Texas, where regular activists can and do get elected by their peers to represent Texas at the national conventions. Thank you, Clint.

Rules 8, 43, 43A, and 44 – long multi-decade battle for holding elected officials accountable. These were finally passed in just the past two state conventions and have already been used to help clean up Austin and empower the grassroots even more. Draining our own swamps.

And many others...

Thank you, Clint.
Thank you for sharing him, Diana.

Condolence: We were blessed to recently spend time with Clint and Diana at Astro games and eating out. His extensive Geological knowledge of the Gulf of Mexico was so interesting in many aspects, even beyond oil and gas exploration. I am grateful to have spent time with him as he spoke of the positive aspects in his and all of our lives. He is sorely missed in many aspects.

Condolence: I met Clint at the 2018 GOP State Convention in San Antonio. We served together on the rules committee. It was my first time serving. It was very apparent that Clint understood everything that was happening and why. I was impressed with his knowledge and dedication. I anticipated seeing him again in 2020 and am sad that this won't happen.
My condolences to all his family and loved ones.
May the Lord comfort you all.
