Obituary for Larry Allen Pearson

Larry Allen Pearson
Surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren, Larry Allen Pearson, 76, went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2019, after a hard fought battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was born on July 14, 1943, and grew up in Kirbyville, Texas. The middle of three children, most days you could find Larry sacking groceries at the family grocery store. After high school, he attended Lamar University and was a member of the Cardinal marching band. His junior year in college, Larry met the love of his life, Vera, and they were married in Beaumont, TX on August 27, 1966. Shortly after they wed, Larry was ordained as a deacon at Westbury Baptist Church in Houston, TX. Both of their children, Kevin & Kerri, were baptized in this church before they moved to Humble.
For many years, Larry was a beloved greeter at First Baptist Church in Humble and he could always be found visiting hospitalized church members and shut-ins. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Larry was known for his big, amazing smile and warm handshake. He brought technology advancements to three different oil and gas corporations for almost 40 years, eventually becoming Vice President of Data Processing at Kelley Oil. After a successful corporate career, Larry, Vera, Kevin and his wife Deborah opened the family-run business, Pearson Carpet Care which they owned until January 2018.
Larry’s four beautiful grandchildren brought immense joy to his life. Always the best cheerleaders and encouragers, Larry and Vera, attended countless animal shows, orchestra concerts, cross country meets, volleyball, football, soccer, and basketball games. Over the past five years, Larry enjoyed attending Rock Steady Boxing where they affectionately called him Lightning Larry!
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Wanda Pearson. He is survived by Vera Ruth Miller Pearson, his loving wife of almost 53 years; his son Kevin Pearson, wife Deborah; and his daughter Kerri Brinkoeter, husband Ashley. Grandchildren Emily & Amy Pearson and Makenzie & Logan Brinkoeter; brother David Pearson, wife Linda; sister Suzanna Cheek, husband Harold and many nieces and nephews.
A great listener, incredibly generous, kind, and humble, Larry loved the Lord and showed all who came in contact with him the JOY that only Jesus can bring.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. - 2 Timothy 4:7

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Phil Marlowe’s Senior Adult Life Group class at First Baptist Church Humble where Larry & Vera have enjoyed membership for 35 years.
