Obituary for
Roy Alvin Smith
Roy Smith of Tomball, TX went to be with his Lord on July 3, 2019.
Roy served in the U.S. Army in California from 1961-1964, serving the rank of SPC E-4. In 1961, he met the love of his life, Jacqueline (Powell) Smith, a pearl among women. Roy spent the next nine months wooing Jacqueline with his charm, good looks, and silk suit. Their first date was at church on Sunday; some might call that devine intervention. In September 1962, Roy and Jacqueline were married and had two sons, Mark and Daniel, before moving back to Texas to help Roy’s parents. In February 1967, Roy began his career as a draftsman at Exxon Pipeline Co. in Houston, TX. In 1973, Roy and Jacqueline had a daughter, Tamara. After retiring from Exxon Pipeline Co. in October 1994, Roy spent several years working for MEI Engineering in Houston, TX. He finally retired for good and spent his remaining years collecting tractors and spending time with his loved ones.
Roy’s family knew him as a deeply loving man who was not afraid to express his emotions and loved to give tear-jerking Hallmark cards. Roy was also known as a man who took great pride in honoring his mother and father all the days of their lives. His sense of humor and wild stories will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
