Obituary for David Hugh Breazeale

David Hugh Breazeale was born on January 27, 1949 in Houston, TX to his parents Hugh & Dail Breazeale, and passed away to eternal life with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the age of 70. He became a big brother at the age of 14 to his sister, Donna, in 1962. He loved his parents and sister dearly. At the age of nine, David was baptized into Christ and has remained a faithful believer during his lifetime. In 1969, he married Constance McCray and shared 36 years of marriage before her passing in 2005. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Elizabeth & Julianne. He has been happily married to his wife, Cindy, since December 22, 2007, and they have shared 11 years of happiness and love for their family and friends.

David developed a love for baseball at a young age, and has touched many lives as a supportive teammate, fan and coach over many years of his life. He was rarely seen not wearing a baseball cap, and it was often a red one – his favorite color. He was a coach and mentor to his daughters when they played softball from 1979-1987, and again many years later as he served as an Assistant Coach to his brother-in-law, Everett, for his nephew’s little league baseball teams for twelve years. David won the hearts of countless players, and influenced not only skills, but sportsmanship, attitude, and passion for the game.

David graduated from Milby High School in 1967 and attended Lamar Tech from 1967 to 1972. David was a proud member of the baseball team who won the championship in 1971. He has been a dedicated fan and supporter of the university’s baseball team for decades and served on the board for the Lamar University Baseball Players Association. David was recently honored by the Association with the Bob Frederick Award for his endurance and courage after his aneurysm in 2017, and his dedication to the program.

David enlisted into the Army Reserves in 1972 as an act of willingness to serve his country. He received his training at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and later returned home to Beaumont, TX. David worked diligently to provide for his family as a professional engineer for various oil equipment companies and retired from DrilQuip in 2016.

David could be described by his family and friends as a hardworking man who was deeply dedicated to his family and cared about the well-being of others. He enjoyed moments of laughter and was always quick to give praise for accomplishments and achievements. His laughter was accompanied by a big smile, and his hugs were always warm to those who were blessed to experience one. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends who look forward to the future day to be reunited with him.

David is preceded in death by his father, Hugh Breazeale & former wife, Constance Breazeale.

He is survived by his mother, Dail Breazeale of Porter, TX; wife of 11 years, Cindy Breazeale; daughters Beth Hudson, Julie Hantke & husband, Jeremy; step-children Chris Bradshaw & wife, Melanie, Lindsey Bradshaw & husband James Clarke; grandchildren Jonathan Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Martin Hantke, Mackenzie Bradshaw, Connor Bradshaw, and Miley Clarke; sister, Donna Mitchell & husband Everett, and numerous nieces and nephew, and great-nieces.
