Obituary for Judy K. Garrison (Moeller- Andersen)

Judy K. Garrison (Moeller- Andersen)
Judy K. Garrison, age 90, entered into Eternal Rest on May 27, 2019. Funeral services will be held on June 14, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Comforter Lutheran Church, Kingwood, Texas, with internment at Rosewood Memorial Park-Mausoleum, 2602 S. Houston Avenue, Humble, TX, immediately following the service.
Judy was born Gudrun Kristine Møller-Andersen, on July 11, 1928, Copenhagen, Denmark, to parents Svend Aage Møller-Andersen and Julia Rasmine Nielsen. Judy was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith and attended Lutheran school in Copenhagen. Judy emigrated from Denmark to the United States after marrying her husband, Lloyd Garrison, Jr. in 1951, in Brahmin, Germany. Throughout their loving years together, Judy, Lloyd and their four children lived in Ozark and Springfield, Missouri and Houston and Huffman, Texas. Known as “Nana”, she was very influential and involved with the lives of her children and grandchildren. Although most of her life she was a stay at home mother, Judy held a brief career as an executive secretary at the Houston Ship Channel, and worked with the City of Houston parking division, at Houston Intercontinental Airport, for ten years.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Garrison, Jr., in 1974, and her son, Stephen Lloyd Garrison, in 1990; her parents, Svend Aage Møller-Andersen, Julia Rasmine Hjorth; her step-father, Hans Christian Hjorth; her brothers, Svend Erik Møller Andersen, Kaj Benny Andersen, and Carl Edward Hjorth.
Judy is survived by her son, Brian Svend Garrison, daughter, Pamela Kirsten Garrison-Cooper (Robert Cooper); daughter, Julia Alice Garrison-O’Dwyer (John O’Dwyer); grandsons, Samuel Lloyd Garrison, Jake William McShan, Caleb Duncan-Garrison Vaughn (Kelli Vaughn), and Connor Alexander- Garrison Wood; granddaughters, Katelyn Elizabeth-Garrison Vaughn, Kirsten Meredith-Garrison Wood (Evan Williams); and great-grandchildren, Paige Avery McShan and Elijah Anthony Williams. Gudrun is also survived by her cherished Danish Family, sister-in-law, Aase Hjorth; neice, Pernille Hjorth; nephew, Henrik Hjorth (Maj Simonsen); great niece and nephew, Sidsel Hjorth Simonsen and Frederik Simonsen, all of Denmark.
Judy’s favorite bible verse was from Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Judy lived an incredible life, filled with adventure of every kind. Her experiences during World War 2 in Copenhagen during her childhood and teenage years strengthened her beyond measure. We grew up listening to her retelling stories of what it was like during the war, and the difficulties her family encountered. She was a fine example of how to love, live, and respect others. By her life example, she taught us how to be strong in the midst of any trial. She made us to feel as though we could accomplish anything we set our minds to. She motivated us to do our personal best and to believe in ourselves. She did not just talk the talk, she walked the walk, every day. Mom, you gave us laughter, love of our American and Danish heritage, faith, strength, hope, loyalty, inspiration, many fantastic family meals! Thank you for everything mom, you will always be our hero. We love you and you will forever be in our hearts, Vi elsker dig. Rest in Peace sweet mother, you fought the good fight, and now you are finally home with our loving Lord.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Judy’s honor, be given to Alzheimer and Dementia research.
