Jack Robert Wood, 86 of Porter, Texas went to be with our Lord on Thursday, May 16, 2019. Funeral service will be held at Rosewood. Mr. Wood was born September 12, 1932 in South Charleston, West Virginia to Alfred Wood & Gladys Jones. He was the only boy of six children. His sisters Martha Sutton (Porter, Texas), Patty Holland (Tyler, Texas), Betty Hudgins (Yorktown, Virginia), Donna Wheeler (Shiro, Texas) and Delores Hinklin (Big Thicket, Texas). Mr. Wood never married or had children but he had numerous nieces and nephews that he loved like his own children.

His family moved to Texas from West Virginia back in the mid 1930's. And Mr. Wood joined the Army in 1953 during the Korean War and served his country with pride. Jack loved spending time with his sisters and family always with the biggest smile and full of joy.

He enjoyed watching his western movies he was a big fan of John Wayne.

Jack Wood was saved on January 20, 1985 and he loved the Lord and he loved his church.

He was a dedicated son when his mother was ill and took care of her until she passed in 1991.

He is survived by his siblings; Martha Sutton, Patty Holland, Betty Hudgins and Delores Hinklin, nephews; Raymond Sutton, Ronald Sutton, Kenneth Holland, David Wheeler, Don Hinklin, nieces; Sherri McCullen, Debbie Smith, Delores Holland, Cheryldine Hinklin.

Jack was preceded in death by parents; Alfred Wood & Gladys Smith, sister; Donna Wheeler, niece; Theresa Mathis, nephew; Paul Hudgins
