Cardboard
I was told by many people that I was an unusual child, my dad, Sidney, never said that to me. I started building plastic models early; planes, ships, rockets and cars, but in my teens I wanted to build things of my own design. I was at a loss how to do that when dad suggested I use cardboard. He had a ready supply from work and he brought me more than enough. Of all of the projects I built the space station and submersible were the ones I remember the most. After I completed a project he would express his delight at what I had done. Not surprising, but I still prefer cardboard to model new projects.
Thanks, Dad!
