Obituary for
Donna Jo Stephens (Lee)
Donna Jo Lee Stephens “Huney”, age 60, was called home by God the morning of May 10, 2019.
Donna was born in Augusta, GA on January 17, 1959 to parents United States Army Lt Col Donald Lee &
Josephine Lee, youngest sibling after Duane Cooper & Cathy Cooper. She saw the country side and most
of Germany throughout her life as she was proudly raised in an Army family. On February 8, 1996, she
married the love of her life, William Stephens. She took a house and made it a home, filled it with love
& pride. She was an amazing support strength and source of unconditional love for her husband William Stephens, as well as her children; Shawn Michael Hixson, Michael Thomas Stephens, and Candice Stephens Dryden. She was a full time homemaker, a mother, and a loving wife. She held multiple certifications, had a part time business. She was devoted to her fur babies as much as she was her own children; Sofie, Stryker, and Beaux. Donna has blessed her family with giving them her love. From that
love her family will remember her in all ways. Those memories will become jewels to them. She left
them with the warmth of her heart.
She is survived by her husband, William Stephens. She’s also survived by her children, Shawn Hixson &
wife, Julie; Candice Dryden; and Michael Stephens & wife, Crystal. She was blessed in life with her
grandchildren; JR Dumont, Lucy Dryden, Everly Stephens, Rowan Stephens, Asher Stephens, Emerson
Stephens, Finley Stephens, Harper Stephens, Sarah Hernandez & husband Anthony, and Darryl Waller.
That blessing was furthered with the arrival of her great grand-children; Kaleigha, Vivi’Anne, and Oliver.
Always the driving force of this family, there was little that intimidated her. If ever asked a question, she
would forever answer you honestly. Her son Shawn followed in his Grandfather’s footsteps and gave her
a Mother’s pride for her son. With Shawn’s decision, she dedicated her time to supporting not only her
son, but other soldiers in need; throughout and after his return home as a Soldier’s Angel and a
supporter of the Patriot Guard Riders.
