“Meme” was a very blunt, straightforward, honest, sharp, Christian woman. She never beat around the bush and was bound to tell you how she really felt about any and every thing. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Camilla Baptist Church, and a part of the Nickle of Cup ministry. “Meme” was an avid 42 player. She would play 42 with her niece, Sue Baker, and friends George May & A.C. Langford. George, A.C., and “Meme” have since passed and have probably found a fourth person in Heaven and began playing already. She kept her mind sharp by reading books and constructing jigsaw puzzles. She loved to share life lessons, past memories, and history, such as when Hwy 59 was a 2-lane dirt road, with her grandson Johnny. Every time we drove down the road she would say, “You know, I remember when…” or she would chuckle and then begin a story. She could remember things down to the details and loved to pass down the memories. She took the room and everyone’s attention when she entered a room, and if she didn’t then she would make it known by a simple “Y’all over there talking ‘cause you know I can’t hear you” or “Sit down here and talk to me.” She tuned the world out every weekday from 6:30- 7PM cuddling up with her puppies, Monty and Charlie as she watch Wheel of Fortune with her son in Law Harvey. “Meme” had a small collection just shy of 200 teddy bears. They have been collected over the years from road trips, hospital visits, family, friends, and even strangers. If you came to the house, she was sure to show them off. She wanted her collection to be shared with children so that she could continue to share her love for teddy bears even after her passing. Most of the bears will be distributed to the surrounding communities with the help of the local fire department and the local B.A.C.A. She made sure that her love was known not only by saying it but by her actions. “Meme” had a deep love in God and shared her love of the Lord with others. She will be missed by all but never forgotten.
