Dorothy “Dot” Nell Ruffin, 85, of Huffman, Texas, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Sunday, April 21, 2019. Born July 3, 1933 in Texarkana, Arkansas she is preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Pauline Malloy and her beloved husband of 54 years, Harold Ray Ruffin. Before returning to Huffman, they resided in Milam, Texas for 15 years.
A loving mother and homemaker, Dorothy loved being the matriarch of her large family. She enjoyed the times when her family gathered for celebrations and special occasions. She loved the Barn Dance Family Reunion that she and Ray started 26 years ago. Dorothy and Ray enjoyed life on their farm in East Texas, traveling to look for antiques and working at their church.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Patsy Underwood and husband Gene, and brother Otis Paul Malloy and wife Helen. She is also survived by her three children, Sharon Botkin and husband Doug, Phil Ruffin and wife Linda and Diane Ruffin. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Shannon Andersson, Trent Botkin, Heather Sapon, Roxie McInnis, Amanda Robbins, Amanda Diane Ruffin and Taylor Rogo along with their spouses. Dorothy dearly loved her 12 great-grandchildren.
Private interment will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25, 2019. A service celebrating her life will be held that afternoon at 1 pm at Atascocita Presbyterian Church, 19426 Atasca Oaks, Humble, Texas 77346.
