Obituary for
Cheryl Janine Andress (Cullum)
Cheryl Janine Cullem Andress was born August 27, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to Joseph Carl Cullum, Sr. and Veleta Agness Ballard Cullum. Cheryl graduated from Sam Rayburn High School, Pasadena Texas in 1966. She then attended the University of Houston, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. After graduation in 1969, she taught school for three years. She married her husband of 49 years William Randolph Andress Jr. in December 1969; shortly thereafter they started a family. After the children started school, she went to work in William’s dental practice where she continued to work until they both retired in February 2013.
Cheryl was a fantastic mom and wonderful wife; she lived her life with grace and dignity, always smiling. Most importantly she had saving faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She faithfully attended the Humble area’s First Baptist Church as long as her health allowed.
Cheryl loved to travel; she and William, along with their dear friends Debbie and Pat Farmer, took many vacations together. While the guys were golfing, Cheryl and Debbie did all those things women do when their husbands golf.
Cheryl went to be with the Lord on December 7, 2018. She died as a result of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. She faced her diagnosis and disease with the same grace and peace she lived with her entire life. In spite of the cruelty of the disease, she never complained. She truly believed “all things work together for the good to those who loved the Lord and are called ascending to his purpose.” Romans 8:28. She knew that she was in the Lord’s hands; that He loved her and knew everything that she was going through. Her unwavering faith always kept her thankful and gracious during the toughest days.
Cheryl was preceded in death by both of her parents. She is survived by her husband, William; children Russell Andress and wife Sandy; Jackson Fox and wife Emily; grand children Emmy Andress, Jenna Andress, William Andress, Solei Ornelas, Madrid Saenz; her brother Joseph Cullum; brother in laws Morris Andress and wife Melinda; Cheaney Andress and wife Linda; sister in law Andrea Lawhorn; and her mother in law Mary Elizabeth Andress.
