Obituary for Shirley Ruth Goad (Renner)

Shirley Ruth  Goad (Renner)
Shirley Ruth Renner Goad was born June 17, 1932 in Cottage Grove, Houston, Texas to Paul and Emma Renner. She loved Jesus, her family, her church and her friends. She loved being a preacher’s wife, a nurse, a baby sister and the matriarch of her family. Shirley loved being a good friend, good listener the belle of the ball and a generous heart. She was Sis, Mama, Mawmaw and friend. As her family and friends, we grieve for her, but through our tears, we celebrate her transition home. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband; U. Stanley Goad; parents, Paul and Emma Renner; daughter, Sharon Skinner; grandsons, Kyle and Donald Skinner; brother David Renner. She is survived by son; Steven Goad and wife Lisa and friend Theresa Riley; daughter Stanla Finley and husband Larry; grandson Christopher Finley and wife Carolyn; great-granddaughters, Kherrington and Kennedy; brothers Paul and Jimmy Renner; sisters in love, Helen Renner and Rosalyn Renner; dear friends Vicki Wikly, Cathy and Nils Dahl; and her sweet precious Alex Redd, as well as her “loved ones" within the Houston Astros organization. She will forever be, “Astro Granny”. Shirley requested those in attendance of her service to wear their Astros gear. In lieu of flowers, Shirley’s family request donations to be made to Golden Cross, c/o the United Methodist Church, 5215 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77002-9792. A visitation will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018, 5 PM to 8 PM at Rosewood Funeral Home in Porter, Texas. Funeral services will be Friday, November 30, 2018 at 10 AM at the Friendship United Methodist Church in Porter, Texas. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
