Obituary for
Dellene Goy (Flint)
Dellene Gail Goy (Flint), 58 yrs old, of New Caney Tx went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 16, 2018. She was born in Oxford, England on April 13, 1960 to Ronald and Rosemary Flint. Dellene is preceded in death by her father, Ronald Flint. She is survived by her husband, Bob Pike; mother, Rosemary Whelan and husband Stephen; children, January Quiroga and husband Junior Quiroga, Charles and Misty Ramshur, Danielle Morton; grandchildren, Kristen, Ashlee, Britlee, Grant, Kashton, Scott, Jacob, Carlie, Nathan, Brandon, and Charlotte-Rose; great-grandchildren, Noah, Eden, and Emmy; siblings; Stephen Flint, Jeffrey Flint, Allison Husk, and Rachel Flint; and many other relatives and friends.
Her father was in the US Army. She and her family traveled all over the world. Her fondest memories from her childhood are when she lived in Thailand. While in high school she prided herself in her track abilities and her artistic abilities.
She graduated from Victoria college of Nursing in Seguin, Texas in 1988. She was an LVN for 30 years. Her patient’s, family members, co-workers and Physician’s that she worked with over the years became her family. She genuinely cared for others and she was a blessing to all whom encountered her.
As an adult she loved to “dumpster dive”. She would find someone else’s trash and turn it into a treasure. She loved to go to the Casino with her daughter’s. She loved to paint murals for her grandchildren and swirl ceilings. She loved to BBQ and sit by a fire. She loved to cuddle and have one of her children or grandchildren “Keep her back warm”. She would say, “Just lay with me till I fall asleep”.
In 2012, she moved from Arkansas to Texas to be near her children and grandchildren. She had a closeness with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She told them individually, “You’re my favorite” and each one knew it. She had that same closeness with her parents, brothers and sisters.
Also in 2012, She met Bob Pike. The man of her dreams. He made a promise to her. He promised to love, care for her, support her and never forsake her. He kept that promise to the very end and even now still. They accomplished so much together. They were a team. They remodeled their beach house in Crystal Beach and their home in New Caney. They enjoyed fishing together and sitting on the front porch drinking coffee. They were truly best friends. Shortly before she passed, Bob told her “You’re retired”. That made her heart happy. She said that if she survived the cancer; she would travel the US speaking to children about the importance of not smoking and Bob supported that decision of hers. She also said “If me dying from Lung Cancer prevents one of my grandchildren or great grandchildren from smoking, I have served my purpose in life”.
