Obituary for Floyd Fairbanks

Floyd Fairbanks
Floyd Fairbanks was born at home in the Brazos River bottom of Clay TX July 3rd 1933, the youngest along with his twin brother in a family of seven children. He was preceded in death by his father, John Franklin Fairbanks Sr., his mother, Rosa Lee (Farquhar) Fairbanks, five brothers, George Washington "Jesse" Fairbanks, Marshall Lee Fairbanks, John F. "Fritz" Fairbanks Jr., David Clinton "Clint" Fairbanks, twin brother Lloyd Fairbanks and sister, Joe Ella (Fairbanks) Wegner.
Waiting eagerly to welcome him with open arms at Heaven's gates were his beloved son Gregory Don Fairbanks and precious bonus daughter Angela (Holcombe) Raines.

Floyd will be tremendously missed and forever loved by his surviving daughter and pride and joy, Kelly (Fairbanks) Martin, her husband Larry Martin Sr., grandchildren, Larry Martin Jr., Katie (Martin) Abbott, her husband, Daniel Abbott and Christian Raines. His great grandchildren, Faith, Jaxon, Weston and Ella Grace Abbott were the sunshine of his golden years along with Fendi his ever present and faithful canine companion.
He also leaves behind a host of extended family who held him in high esteem, and long list of friends and church family.

Life Story for Floyd Fairbanks

A truck driver by trade, Floyd worked for Yellow Freight 30 + years with over a million miles driven accident free. Through his years of service he was recognized time and again for exemplary service, his motto being.....
"A job done well..is a job well done"
He was a lifetime member of the Teamsters Union.

In 1971, Floyd fully committed his life to serving God and spreading the good news to all he encountered. He diligently studied the Bible and gave testimony in jails and prisons in and around the greater Houston area that they may have the opportunity to grow in spirit and faith.

In his retirement, he took great joy teaching and helping his grandchildren and great grandchildren work their 4-H and FFA animals. He lived for the time he spent with them telling stories of days gone by and watching them grow under his watchful eye. That time even earned him his very own title and custom parking sign at 1026 Carpenter Road.....
RANCH MANAGER
Floyd Fairbanks
He took great pride in their accomplishments..
Always their biggest fan...and if they were disappointed he felted it right along with them.

It's hard to truly capture the essence of a man like Floyd on paper....for he was many things to many people....he was kind..loyal
.slow to anger..but his fuse could be lit...he was honest....generous to a fault....devoted to God and family...a simple man who loved all God's creatures....he was filled with extraordinary insight and a heart as big as Texas....

A life well spent...the world lost a good man...and Jesus gained a valiant servant..his leaving isn't Goodbye...it's till we meet again!
