Condolence From: Gregory W. Harding
Condolence: Wilma...you are my dear and only sister. You are one of the most loving and caring women I have known in my life. I know you struggled long and hard the last few years and while that struggle was mitigated with the love and support of your beautiful children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren it was hard because you had to go through it without your ever so loving, handsome, gentle and kind husband, Leon, and your "Son" of similar attributes. Your family and friends know of what I speak but they don't know how much you meant to me. We spent most of our lives distant from one another...me in California and you in Texas...but each time I saw you and your family I felt fortunate beyond words. Remember the time back in the summer of 1955 or '56 when you and Leon showed up in Bakersfield, California, in your new Chevy with five kids somehow tucked into the car along with luggage, etc??? We all went to Disneyland when it had first opened and a great time was had by all. Sure wish I had bought Disney stock back then!!!

Your family represents all that is good in life with love, happiness, hope, kindness, respect, gentleness and a mutual bond that brings strength to all those in its circle. This is because of you and Leon...the two of you had a remarkable life together and created so many other remarkable lives who have or will make this a better world in so many ways. Your legacy is the envy of all who knew you and Leon and your family does you proud each and every day.

I was fortunate enough to be your youngest brother and while I was "Uncle Gregg" to your children I was only a few years older than your older children. Our parents were very prolific having had seven children who were 21 years apart starting in 1925 through 1946. You are their only daughter and the third child born to our mother and father in 1929 at the beginning of the "Great Depression" which our father helped provide for the family by working for the WPA(Work Projects Administration) on roads in Oklahoma. We were very poor but I don't remember us ever being hungry because we were rural poor and able to raise vegetables, chickens, pigs and hunt for rabbits, squirrels, quail, dove, deer, etc. We had cash crops along with raising chickens for eggs and milking cows for the cream which we sold at the creamery located many miles distant.

Flash forward to right after World War II in which our two older brothers, Jr and Bud, served along with their high school friend, Leon Johns.
I remember you telling me the story of seeing this tall, handsome and smiling sailor walking the streets of Camargo, Oklahoma. You would have been somewhere around 15 or 16 at the time and a beautiful young lady based on all the pictures I have seen and treasure. You had only recently returned from California where our family had gone for work during the war. I had yet to be born or had only recently been born. In any event, after falling deeply in love and a whirlwind romance you and Leon eloped to somewhere in Texas and woke up the local justice of the peace and you were man and wife for the rest of your lives. A love story if I ever heard one:-))). You have three very beautiful daughters and two handsome sons from this story book romance but it is the inner heart and soul of these children which sets them apart. Their love of family and commitment to one another tells us how extraordinary you and Leon were as not only husband and wife but father and mother and subsequently, Grand and Great and Great-Great Grandparents.

We love you Wilma and will always remember your smile, laugh, perfectly coiffed hair and outer but most important inner beauty. Know full well that you led an exemplary life and will be held in the highest esteem by all who knew you. Say hello to Leon, Son and Charles for us all along with our brothers Jr, Bud, Bob and Terry and keep those pearly gates shiny and open for the rest of us.

Love and respect,

Gregg and Hisako

Condolence: Our loving Father Jehovah views death as an enemy (1Corinthians 15:26). That's why he promises that we will see our loved ones again right here on earth when he resurrects them as Isaiah 26:19 states. Please look forward to that time with much faith and hope!
