Obituary for Darrell Lynn Babcock

Darrell Lynn Babcock
Darrell Lynn Babcock, RPLS, age 57, Porter, TX joined God's fishing team on Sunday, December 27,2015 after valiantly battling a short illness at Conroe Regional Medical Center, Conroe, TX. Darrell was born on April 11, 1958 in Olla, Louisiana to Elaine King. He is survived by his loving wife, best friend and partner of nearly 17 years, Jona; his two children, Randy Babcock and Melissa Chiriboga, stepson, Justin Stockel; son-in-law, Patricio Chiriboga, sisters Cathy Chase (Dan), Carol Dotson (Joey) and Donna Miller (Thomas), sister-in-law Lisa Gengler (Noah), brothers-in-law Bret (Patrice) and Barry Newmiller; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Elaine King and his grandmother, Grace Dunn. At the time of his death, Darrell was a valued employee at RODS Surveying as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor where not only his expertise will be missed but also his kind and humorous personality. He will be particularly missed by his friend and daily lunch buddy, David Kenney. In his spare time, Darrell enjoyed fishing and boating at their lake house in Onalaska, Texas where his dog, Buddy "kissed" the fish before they were thrown back. Darrell and Jona loved to travel and were discussing a trip to Alaska at the time of his death. A celebration of his life will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home, 22271 Hwy 59 North, Porter, TX 77365 on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to The American Diabetes Association in his name. Darrell will be cremated and his ashes will be spread at the lake where he can watch the sunset as he did his last weekend there.
