Obituary for Gladys Marie Johnson (Boeker)

Gladys Marie Boeker Johnson, 70, passed away July 3, 2013 in Humble, Texas. Gladys was born in Houston, Texas on December 25, 1942, the daughter of Leon and Vida Skrobanek Boeker. She grew up on Houston's north side attending Houston Gardens Elementary, Marshall JH and Davis HS, graduating in 1961. In 1962 she married Stanley Johnson, the love of her life. They were married for 35 years until his death in 1997. During her career she worked for R.W. Smith Co., Ida's Bakery in Humble and most recently, Murphy Shipping.

Gladys was preceded in death by her father, Leon Boeker; mother, Vida Dixon, step-father, Carl T. Dixon; husband, Stanley D. Johnson; sister, Karen Gaye Haggard. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and Jon Goebel; grandchildren, Alana and Gage Goebel; brother and sister-in-law, Leon "Shottie" and Linda Boeker; aunts, Ida Skrobanek Wall, Dot Skrobanek and Berta Lee; nieces and nephew, Cindy, Paulette, Rene', Cary, Rendy, Brandy, Brittany, Trey, Stacie and Robbin; cousins, Russell, Sharrron, Melissa, Larry, Debbie and Judy; and her beloved boston terrier, Poco.

During her final illness she was continually surrounded by many loving family members and friends who will deeply miss her. The family would like to thank Gladys' close friends of many years who have provided so much support lately, especially Cindy Stokley, Erica Ardoin, Ruby Fuentes, June Adams, Hilma and Norma Lozano, Jo Ann Jacobs, Robert Ante, and many others who all loved her dearly.

Visitation will be at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble, Texas from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2013. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 at Rosewood Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
