Obituary for
Francis Patrick Manchack
Francis Patrick (Pat) Manchack passed away at his home in Kingwood, Texas, on Monday, November 26, at the age of 82. Having survived Stage 4 Lymphoma and a Stem Cell Transplant in 2003, he considered the past 15 years a gift from God.
Pat was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, in 1936 to the late Ludell Molandes Manchack and Ralph Manchack. After graduating from high school, he moved to Beaumont where he worked at various jobs to put himself through Lamar University. In addition, he proudly served his country by enlisting in the Air Force Reserves. After completing his degree, he was employed by Owens-Illinois Paper Company and was sent to Tomahawk, Wisconsin, for a year. Never adjusting to the ice and snow, he gladly returned to Texas where he helped start up the new paper mill in Orange. It was there that he met his wife of 49 years, Marian Martin Manchack. Pat eventually moved to Houston to become the Pulp Mill Superintendent at Southland Paper Company in Sheldon and continued his career as a process engineer for Fisher Controls and Brown and Root. He retired in 2002 after 38 years in the pulp and paper industry but continued to work as a consultant.
Pat is survived by his wife, Marian Manchack; son, Matthew Manchack of Kingwood, Texas; daughter, Meredith Manchack of San Jose, California; sister, Dorothy Kober of Rillton, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Patrick and Katie Hall of San Jose, California; and his beloved companion, Paco.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Atascocita Rosewood Funeral Home on Wednesday from
6 pm to 8 pm. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Cemetery in Tyler, Texas, on Thursday
November 29, 2018 at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at gifts.mdanderson.org or P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486.
