Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park North, in Porter, Texas Known to family and friends as Ray, he was born in DeLeon, Texas on Sunday, June 14, 1931. While attending DeLeon High School, at the age of 15, he worked as a delivery driver for the local grocery store. In 1948, after graduation, he worked at the DeLeon National Bank after graduation and quickly moved up from the position as janitor and transcriber to teller. Ray was hired in 1949 by the National Government as a National Bank Examiner and travelled extensively. In 1950, he married his high school classmate Ellen. In 1951, after moving to Snyder, Texas, he landed a position at the Snyder National Bank as an assistant cashier. From 1951-53 he served in the Army as a Sergeant (E-5) during the Korean War. After his discharge, he and his wife moved to Katy, Texas in 1954. He was hired as a cashier for the Katy National Bank. Ray and Ellen came to know the Lord while attending First Baptist Church of Katy and raised their first child, Lisa. The Warrens also raised their two other children, Melinda and Marcus. In 1963, he moved his family to West Columbia where he organized and served as the president of the West Columbia National Bank and chairman of the board. In West Columbia, he attended First Baptist Church of West Columbia, then the Assembly of God Church where he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He joined the Rotary Club and served as the song leader for the meetings. He also served as president and had perfect attendance for over 30 years. He enjoyed travelling with his wife and family which included trips to Israel, Korea, China, Holland, Switzerland, and all 50 states of the United States of America. In 1985, he retired after 35 years of a career in the banking industry. After retirement, he volunteered as the Bible teacher for the Senior Citizen Center, where he led praise and worship. He was known as a humorous storyteller and always told a story or joke before he prayed. While teaching at the center he would say to them, “I enjoy it when I tell it, I enjoy it when I explain it to you, and then I enjoy it again when you finally get it.” Then he would laugh. In 1999, Ray and Ellen moved to The Woodlands, TX. In 2000, they started attending Worship Tabernacle in Humble, Texas for 14 years and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. After driving became more challenging, they joined Faith Assembly in Magnolia, Texas. In May of 2018, he and Ellen moved to Kingwood, Texas and started attending the church chapel in complex where they lived. Once again, Ray was called upon to lead praise and worship. Ray was married for 68 years to Ellen and enjoyed his three children, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Ray Warren lived a full and amazing life, putting God first and living by what God said in His Word. He was truly a gifted psalmist and captivating storyteller who would spread the love and joy of the Lord where ever he went. He had a passion for studying and singing the Scriptures and loved to help people laugh. He will fondly and always be remembered as a man of integrity and faith, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-great grandfather, and friend to many. Ray Warren’s testimony and legacy is truly Psalm 1:1-3: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
