James Henry Carter
James Henry Carter, 82, also known as “Peck” or “Papa” went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 22, 2018. He was born on February 19, 1936 in Dumas, Arkansas. He began working alongside his father as a carpenter at the age of 16 and found his love for carpentry. He continued to work in carpentry for years until he retired. He enjoyed being outdoors, feeding the catfish in his pond or watching deer off the porch at his home in Arkansas. He cherished his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids and loved spending time with them from cheering them on at ball games or helping them raise show animals. When he was indoors you would often find him working on a puzzle or two, he loved his puzzles. He never knew a stranger, he always had a kind word and a smile on his face. He would always bring a smile to your face with his great sense of humor.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Edna Carter; brothers, W.H. Carter and Kent Carter and sister, Martha Reagan. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 62 years, Audria Carter; brother, John Allen; son, Terry Carter and wife Donna; daughter, Judy Otto and husband Gary; four grandchildren, Ronnie Pickens, Kristi Kness, Riane Cortines and Breanna Carter; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous other family, nieces, nephews and a host of loving friends. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Rosewood Funeral Home Porter. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Rosewood Funeral Home Porter Chapel with Pastor Jerry Hovater officiating. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Brookside Memorial Park, Houston, Texas.
