Obituary for James Larry Solley

James Larry Solley, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 9, 2018 at his home in Pasadena, Texas.

He was born June 17, 1940 in Forest, Texas to parents James Vergil Solley and Nella Ruth Smith. Raised in the Houston area, he graduated from Galena Park High School with the class of 1959. He received numerous awards and honors for his athletic prowess in football and track and field. He remained a fervent Yellowjacket fan and supporter throughout his life and maintained lifelong alumni friendships.

He was an electrical designer by trade, and worked for major petrochemical companies and for the N.A.S.A. during his career. His work at N.A.S.A. included components of the Lunar Excursion Module used by the Apollo missions to successfully land on the moon. He was an avid collector of one-of-a-kind objects and a fan of music of all genres and decades. His retirement activities included performing as disc jockey as "Wolfman Jim" for special events.

He is survived by beloved wife Marjorie Ann Bordovsky Solley, children James Laniard Solley, Rebecca Ann McLaughlin and Rachelle Denise Richards, siblings Andrea Ruth Mack, Lana Kay Immel and Terry Glenn Solley as well as 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Rosewood Funeral Home from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday, July 13, with service from 7-8 p.m.

Honorary pall bearers are George Bordovsky III, Robert Hogan Richards, Paul Henry McLaughlin, Noah Hogan Richards, Bryan Michael Hoffpauir, Clay Barnett, Michael Joseph Bordovsky, and Darrel Mack.
