Mary Margaret Mosley (Bales)
Mary Margaret Bales Schafer Mosley, 87, passed away May 29, 2018. Mary was born February 24, 1931 in Eminence, Mo. She graduated Westport High School in 1948 and went on to earn her nursing degree at St. John’s Nursing School in 1951 and her Bachelors degree from Millikin University in 1954. After working most of her life as a nurse she changed careers and opened her own cleaning business, Merry Heart Service. She ran her services successfully for 13 years.
Mary loved music and listened to everything from Peter Paul and Mary to the Opera. She instilled the love of music into all her children and made sure they all had the opportunity to learn how to play an instrument. She also loved spending time outdoors. She always took the kids hiking, biking, swimming, snow skiing and horse back riding. Later in life Mary spent her time volunteering. She volunteered 13 years for the H.O.S.T.S program, made quilts for the Pregnancy Center, folded programs and worked in the food pantry at Burke Road Church of Christ and helped at The Bridge Over Troubled Waters.
She had many hobbies that included gardening, knitting, quilting, crocheting and cross stitch. She made many dear friends through her journey in life and never met a stranger.
Mary is proceeded in death by her parents Donald and Maude Bales. By her brother Jay Bales and sister Estella (Teddy) Bales.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Larry Mosley and her children Becky Schafer, Amy Folse, Lisa De Jong, Scott Schafer, Dan Schafer, Nathan Mosley and 10 grandchildren.
