Obituary for
Eugene Joseph Nink
Eugene Joseph Nink was born in Smithville, Texas, on December 13, 1924, and left his family and friends on January 11, 2018, while in Houston, Texas.
Eugene was a World War II and Korean War veteran, serving in the U. S. Navy from 1942 to 1951, during which time he received the Navy Air Medal. He proudly served in U.S. Navy Air Group 18 and with the Torpedo Squadron on the U.S.S. Intrepid from 1943 to 1945. Following his years in the Navy, he married Rylma “Billie” Marshall on May 26, 1951 and he spent the rest of his working years employed by Ethyl Corporation and Deer Park ISD.
He enjoyed his association in the Deepwater Optimist Club, American Legion Post 521 and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid runner and competed in many Senior Olympic events and marathons.
Eugene is survived by his daughters Gloria Nink, Jackie Nink Olsen and her husband Jim, Mary Nink Myers and her husband Howard; his grandchildren Tanner Olsen, Michael Nink and wife Susan, and Alayna Barrett; and his great-grandchildren Marshall Nink, Owen Nink and Vega Joyal.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Rylma “Billie” Nink, his parents Joseph Rudolph and Elenora Nink, his sister Beatrice Psencik and his brother Perry Nink.
