Obituary for Atteh "Caleb" Nelson

Atteh "Caleb" Nelson
The Life of “Caleb” Atteh Nelson: 1999 -2017

The Nelson and Ameku family announces the going home of their son Atteh Nelson: affectionately called Caleb by family and friends. The event occurred on Thursday November 09, 2017 after a brief period of illness. Caleb was born on January 15, 1999, in Houston Texas, USA unto the blessed union of Dr Nii-Otabil Nelson and Dr. Doreen Nelson. Caleb embraced the gospel of Jesus Christ at an early age and became a member of Christ Embassy Houston Texas. Caleb loved the outdoors, he was full of energy, he will roller blade, Ice skate, Jump on the trampoline, swing at the park, he also loved to dance to gospel music. He was very affectionate, loved hugging, kissing, high five, full of fun bold and courageous. His favorites foods are Jellof rice, fried chicken, cheese cake, smash burger… Caleb graduated from Atascocita high school May 27th, 2017. Caleb left behind his twin brother Joshua, sister Esther, father Nii-Otabil, mother Doreen, aunty Peggy Ameku, uncle Keli Ameku, Uncle Fred Ameku, Grandmother Evangelist Mrs. Justine Ameku, Grandfather Pastor Felix Ameku, family, friends. and Christ Embassy Church.

Mama’s boy, we gather here to Celebrate and honor you. You came into this world with your own brother and best friend Joshua. It has been so much joy to see you share your brotherly love together as well as with your sister Esther and god sister Hannah. You were so protective and supportive of each other, making sure each one is safe, well and happy. You would keep yourselves company in each other’s' room to watch TV, eat snacks or play music together. Your whole demeanor, beautiful eyes and dimpled smile would light up when you see your family and friends, hear gospel music and a prayer. You dance to gospel music and as a child whenever a prayer ended you shouted joyfully "and the people say amen" In recent times when words, failed you, you use sign language for your daily prayer and confession:
‘ Jesus love me, by His stripes I am healed.
I have a sound mind, I have the mind of Christ.
I am healed in Jesus name,
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
I have overcome them,
because greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world.
As He is so am I in this world.
In Christ I live and move and have my being
"in Jesus name, amen."
You loved us and we loved you dearly, anyone who came to know you loved you and you loved them back with your quiet smile and chuckle. You rarely cried, if something bothered you, you watched calmly or get up to sit somewhere else with so much patience. You especially loved to sit by the window to watch the clouds, flowers, planes, birds, people and car passing. Caleb, you spoke volumes to us with your beautiful, calm, brave, kind and gentle nature and your legacy remains with us, we would continue to treasure and use your amazing images and videos much more than ever before to keep you present with us physically knowing you are with us in spirit, because you have made us better people with your life. Your fortitude and great endurance in life especially in these last days in the hospital is a testament and apparent example of you and your mother's resilience. We heard some of your nurses say you are a strong man and your mother is more than a nurse. We are not surprised at all that your favorite song is " I can do anything, you can call me superman". Yes Caleb the spirit of God lives in you and the Lord gave you His ability. You were born of the seed of Abraham and now you are a new being in a glorious world.
You fought a great fight, and has finished your race. We love you so much, we followed you on your journey and wanted to see the Lord's glory on you here but God had other plans. His Word in Isaiah 55: 8-9 says His thoughts and ways are not ours, they are higher. He saw your challenge and called you home to Himself to join the heavenly host, to behold and share in His glory. Caleb, you are free, liberated from all pain, trials, tribulations and the tyranny of this world, you have the Lord's victory. It hurts so bad to see you go but you have left the imperfect vessel, your beautiful spirit is living, walking, talking and singing in the presence of the Lord. We believe with all our hearts that we would see you again one day soon because a thousand years here on earth is but a day in heaven, there we will continue the hugs, beautiful smiles and laughter that you left in our hearts, we would carry you with us as long as we live. Thank you for the gift of your life, for the days you shared with us. You are richly blessed in the Lord's presence. Caleb, you are much loved and we miss you dearly, but God loves you more, and we know you are in a better place cheering us on. To be absent in this body is to be present with the Lord. We look forward to seeing you again. REMAIN BLESSED CALEB.

Crossing Over
As Caleb’s spirit left his body,
there appeared a bright cloud,
two angels coming out of the brightness
received Caleb into glory.
Thank you Lord for the opportunity
to know where Caleb is.
What a blessed assurance.
“Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord” 2 Corinthians 5:8 NLT
