Hi Tommy,
Here is what the family gave me:

“Arthur was born in Eliasville, Texas and spent his childhood growing up in an oilfield camp there. He was struck by lightning as a toddler and spent a lot of his childhood years in and out of hospitals. He fully recovered except for loss of hearing in one ear and spent his early teen years roaming the Clear Fork of the Brazos River and enjoying the outdoors. His family moved to Angleton, TX his sophomore year in high school where he was active playing football and basketball. Upon graduation he tried to enlist for WWII and Uncle Sam decided one bad ear made him unfit to serve. He enrolled in Sam Houston College from 1945-47 where he played basketball. He transferred to East Texas Baptist College in 1947 where he played football and basketball. He was awarded best
all-around athlete for his performance. He graduated in 1950 and went to work as a teacher and coach at Velasco Jr. High School. There he was required to work with a pretty girl PE teacher by the name of Ruth Whisenhant from Tomball TX. He got paid for it too $3400.00 for the whole year. In the summer of 1951 Uncle Sam decides one good ear is good enough for the Korean War. He entered the US Air Force on July 31st 1951. While on Christmas leave in Dec. 1951 he married that pretty PE teacher. He was discharged from the Air Force in August of 1953 as a Second Lieutenant and went to work that same year as a teacher and coach at Kirbyville high school. In August of 1954 he took a position of teacher and coach at Humble High School. He served in that capacity until 1962 when he became assistant superintendent and business manager for Humble School District. He retired from Humble ISD in 1986 and joined a local real estate firm as a partner until 1990. After retirement he and Ruth enjoyed traveling the US in their motorhome and visiting the grandchildren and watching them grow up. He kept busy during retirement as an avid fisherman and enjoyed all types of fishing but his true passion was the bays and inland waters of the Gulf of Mexico. He also loved to garden and enjoyed passing out vegetables from his garden every year to friends and family.:”

Merry Christmas!
Pastor Jim

Subject: Coach Arthur Tipton's service on Nov. 4, 2017

Greetings, Rev. Flagg

Sir, I met you at Coach Arthur Tipton's service on Nov. 4, 2017.
I gave you a note about my email address and asked if you could email any notes you
could from Mr. Tipton’s service.

If you can, please also contact Pastor Jonathan Brooks and forward this note to him and see if he can also email me
his notes from Coach Tipton’s service.

If you could I/we would appreciate it.
I do a lot of ethical emails and Facebook postings to Humble folks about the history of Humble Texas and its people.
If you need the family’s approval, please do so.
Ask Ted Tipton about me if you want to.

Congratulations on a job well done, Sir.

Here are a few photos of Coach “Tip” for your pleasure:
Blessings

May America bless God!

Every day is a blessing.
