Ronald "Bruce" Long
Ronald “Bruce” Long, 55, of Kingwood passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Memorial Herman Hospital in Humble, Texas.
Bruce was born on August 9, 1962 in Bryan, Texas to Robert E. Long and Peggy Jean (Jones) Long. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin in 1980. He attended The University of Texas where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1984 and a Master of Science in Engineering in 1991. Bruce began his Engineering career with The Texas Highway Department and upon receiving his Masters, expanded his knowledge working for the Pipeline Industry working for Tenneco Oil and Gas, El Paso Oil and Gas, Universal Ensco and Mistris.
Above all else, Bruce loved his family. His best memories were growing up in a large family and all the family gatherings so much so, that he ensured his daughter, Tori, experienced them. Before his illness, Bruce was an avid Golfer and spent many weekends with the Jones’ playing golf and visiting Golf Courses all over the United States. He loved taking Tori to Disney World, which became almost an annual event. Later, when his illness would not allow him to play, he became an avid Guild Wars fan and spent hours playing and talking to people all over the world through his computer.
Surviving family member are his daughter Tori “Pumpkinweed” Long of Kingwood, sister Lisa Long Ayers of Mexia, Texas, a niece Jamie Ayers of Bonham, nephew Josh Ayers of Ladonia, Texas, great-niece Maddie Baker, great- nephew Jacob Ayers and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Bruce was preceded in death by his father Robert E. Long, mother Peggy J. (Jones) Long, sister Phyllis K. Long, and a brother Robert (Bobby) E. Long Jr.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at Noon on October 14th, 2017 at Lake Mexia Marina, Mexia, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or Special Olympics.
