Obituary for
Mary Gertrude Logan (Gotcher)
Mary Gertrude Logan devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend met her Lord & Savior face to face on Tuesday evening, September 19, 2017 from heart complications. Gertrude (also known as Trudy in her college days) was born in Corsicana, Texas on October 22, 1927 as the 3rd child of Henry Ellis & Eula Mae Gotcher. She attended Pearland High School where she enjoyed drumming in the drum and bugle corps. Upon graduation she proceeded to Sam Houston State College in Huntsville, Texas where she proudly earned her degree in education. During her spare time she enjoyed social dances and especially loved to jitterbug.
Gertrude married her childhood sweetheart Charles Edward Logan on February 19, 1949. Over the next few years they welcomed Patsy and Charley into the family allowing Gertrude to put teaching on hold and stay at home. She loved being a homemaker, caring for her young children and passing on her many skills to Patsy. As a family they spent time taking fishing trips and vacations with friends. Summers were spent on the baseball field cheering on Charley. Once the children were in school, she taught in the Pearland School District at Brookside Elementary. In her young adult days she enjoyed hosting "42 Parties", church events and family gatherings. The memories made with the infamous Friday night gang were priceless to her. As the years went by she found the most joy in watching & playing with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
Gertrude is preceded in death by her sister Elsie Davis, her brother Ernest Gotcher, her granddaughter Carmen Logan and survived by younger sister Hilda McDermed. She is survived by her husband Charles of 68 years, son Charley & wife Jane of a Pasadena, TX and Patsy & husband Ray Woodard of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
