Obituary for
Lois Louise Crothers (Moore)
Lois Louise Crothers was born as Lois Louise Moore, Nov. 8, 1922, in Ravenden, Arkansas to parents John Clay Moore and Mary Ellen Bowman Moore. Her father died when she was only two years old, and her mother remarried Judge McCartney. She loved her sisters, Jony and Mary and her brother Frank, all now deceased. Her mother died when she was 16, and she enrolled in Harding College, Searcy, Ark., where she earned her degree. She met Thomas Crothers, during World War II; they married July 24, 1944. Lou worked as bookkeeper/ accountant for a Gooding Amusement Company and as a secretary for her husband Tom’s earth compaction business. The couple was blessed with two daughters: Tommy Lou Crothers Middleton and Debroah Kaye Crothers Baskin. Lou and Tom celebrated 55 years together until he passed away Oct. 29,1999.
Lou was a faithful and active member of the Church of Christ. Her membership was with the Lake Houston Church of Christ from the time she and Tom moved into the Atascocita area until she passed from this world. She was very grateful for the continued support they gave her during her entire life in this area. Both she and her family especially appreciated and were grateful for the love and comfort the church gave her after she moved to Loving Comfort Senior Living in Porter, Texas. She loved her new home at Loving Comfort where she spent the last four years of her life. The special care she received there was truly an unexpected blessing after her health and advancing age mandated her moving to a care facility.
Lou loved to travel. After Tom died, she travelled to many parts of the world, Mexico, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Bermuda, France, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Crete, England and Alaska. She was very fond of cruising, especially river cruises. These were with her daughters Debby and Tommy Lou and son-in-law Jim. She missed such travels when health and age prevented further trips.
Lou was a loving, caring and wonderful mother, grandmother, great (and great-great)-grandmother etc. She loved little children, especially the babies.
