Obituary for Larry Wayne Strain

Larry Wayne  Strain
Larry Wayne Strain, 70, of Okinawa, Japan passed away May 3, 2017 in Houston, Texas. He was born June 30, 1946 in Spiro, Oklahoma to Elvin and Leota Strain, who have preceded him in death, as well as one brother, Jerry Strain. Larry is survived by his wife, Yoko Strain Misato; children Kathlene Millette and Jeff Strain; grandchildren, Angelina and AJ Millette; brother, Garry Strain and wife Teresa; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Larry was retired from the United States Marine Corps after 30 years of service as a Combat Weapons Systems Specialist. During his military service, he was awarded several distinctions including, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, and numerous other decorations and recognitions. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, weightlifting, scuba diving and was also a member of both the American Legion and VFW.

A funeral service is scheduled for 12 PM Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in the Funeral Chapel at Rosewood Funeral Home in Porter, Texas, Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
