Obituary for Neal Allen Jackson, Sr.

Neal Allen Jackson, Sr.
Neal Allen Jackson, Sr. was born August 7, 1928 in Houston, TX, and went to be with Lord on April 23, 2017.
Neal will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. He graduated from Milby High School. He graduated Sam Houston State University and proceeded in a career of football coaching and teaching for several years. After realizing he couldn’t support a family on that salary. (Next to being close to God, he wanted to have a family.) He changed to the Saving and Loan Assn., where he continued until his retirement. For the next 20 years he was Financial Officer for The Carden-Jackson School.
He was very active in the Pasadena, TX community. He was Treasurer and Manager for the Pasadena Rodeo for 10 years, President of the Pasadena Rotary Club for 2 terms, elected to Pasadena ISD Board for 2 terms, Chairman of the Board for Pasadena Salvation Army, helped organize Pasadena Salvation Army, helped organize Pasadena Historical Society, was one of the founding fathers of San Jacinto College and helped get their state charter.
He was a member and Asst.Treasurer for 10 years at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, a member for 25 years at St. Barnabus, and was currently a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church.
His passion was his family, fishing, and he was a great trombone player. He played in the Milby Marching Band, Sam Houston State University Marching Band, Concert Orchestra, and Pasadena Rotary Jazz Band.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Beverly A. Jackson; by his son, Neal A. “Chip” Jackson; and by his daughter, Beverly A. “Dodie” Jackson.
He is survived by his daughters, Lee Ann Jackson, and Molly B. Young and husband Dr. Michael Young.
Family will receive family and friends for visitation Friday, April 28, 2017 from 12 p.m.- 1 p.m., at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, with service to follow from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m., followed with procession to Forest Park Lawndal Cemetery with Father Clay Shadeck officiating.
