Obituary for
George Oliver Tanner
George Oliver Tanner, 58, loving husband, father, Pappy, nephew and “Uncle George” born September 29, 1958, in Houston, TX passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2017 in Houston, TX.
He is survived by his son Patrick Strother and wife Ashley; by his granddaughter Madyson; by his daughter Holly Strother; by his Uncles, Steve Sims and wife Debbie, Charles Sims, and Billy Smith; by his Aunts Laura Sims, Martha Sims and Peggy Tanner; by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years Margie Strother; by his parents Jimmie and Linda Tanner; by his brothers Victor Strother, Jimmie Tanner Jr.
He was a proud employee of the Local 211 union as a pipefitter and welder. In his spare time, George was always up for a game of pool, tinkering with mowers, and being a shade tree mechanic (now it may have cost more money but he would eventually get it fixed). He also loved an ice-cold beer, fishing and camping, especially building a camp fire and not letting us forget to get that pine knot. Another joy in his life was being pappy and playing with his granddaughter. George had a huge heart and was always a phone call away to everyone, he would be right there if you needed a helping hand.
The family would like to give a special Thank You for everyone’s love and support.
