Obituary for
James Howell Cathey Jr.
James Howell “Bodee” Cathey, Jr. left us on January 3, 2017 to be with his Lord and Savior and loved ones in heaven. His death followed a lengthy and courageous battle with multiple, major health issues. Bodee was born January 29, 1957 in Houston, Texas to James Howell Cathey, Sr. and Patsy E. Brock Cathey. He was a 1975 graduate of S.P. Waltrip High School and attended San Jacinto Junior College where he received certification as a Journeyman Plumber, then continued his education to receive his Master Plumber and Turnkey Builder’s Licenses. He was a loving, easy-going son, husband, father and brother, full of shinanigins, feistiness, and tenacity.
He was married to the love of his life, Rene’ Ingleburger Cathey for 40 years, and together they had two adoring children, Lauren Marie Cathey of Houston, Texas and James Howell Cathey, III, and wife Chanda “Sam” Cathey and precious granddaughter, Kalani Cathey of Spring, Texas. He is also survived by his mother of Columbia,
Tennessee; sister, Cheryl Ann Cathey of Houston, Texas along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his father; his sister, Charlene Cathey Clarke; his brother, John Lawrence “Mack” Cathey and grandparents, Lawrence and Bessie Brock and Noel H. Cathey, Sr. and Carrie Moseley Cathey.
In loving memory, a memorial celebration of his life, officiated by Pastor DeWayne Ingleburger, will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 3:00 PM, in the chapel of Rosewood Funeral Home, 2602 South Houston Avenue, Humble, Texas, 77396. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2:00 until 2:45 PM.
