Obituary for
Wayne Royce Rodgers
Wayne Royce Rodgers entered his glorious adventure into Heaven, December 7, 2016. After an extended illness, Wayne passed quietly at home with his devoted wife Becky and his loving children at his side. The loving husband, father, community and faithful church leader, will be irreplaceable and sorely missed by the many lives he touched and influenced over the years.
Wayne was born May 2, 1930 and raised in Munday, Tx during those tough depression and dust bowl years which grew in him an inner toughness propelling him to graduate from his beloved University of Texas with an undergraduate and Doctorate of Jurisprudence, and a life long career in law which included tenure as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for Brown and Root and ended his career in private practice. His love of country and love of aviation called him into the very beginnings of the Korean War and flying. His aviation training led him to Greenville, MS where he met, fell in love with and quickly married his beloved Becky. As the family started and grew, so did his lifelong love for his heavenly Father grow as well which permeated all aspects of his life and spilled graciously to his immediate family, friends and community. The greatest thing that can be said about this man is that he loved God and was called according to His purposes throughout his entire life and everyone that met him knew it.
Wayne was preceded in death by his mother Claudia Harrell, Mom, father Walter Riley Rodgers, Pop, and daughter Dorthy Nell Rodgers Belew. He leaves his loving wife Rebecca Lyon Rodgers, son, Gordon Wyatt Rodgers, Claudia Lee Rodgers Schulz, Edward Alvin Schulz, Becky Sue Rodgers Stephens, Matthew Carter Stephens (also preceding his father-in-law in death), a wonderful bunch of grand children and even great grand children.
In Waynes' honor a Visitation will be held Friday December 9, 2016, 5:00 -8 PM, at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble TX, followed by a service on Saturday, December 10, 2016, 11:00 am, at 2nd Baptist Church Kingwood. Wayne will be layed to rest with full Military Honors at Houston National Cemetery and will be honored in a private ceremony there.
