Obituary for Donald Francis Fettig

Don Fettig, 82, passed away in Humble, Texas on October 14, 2016. He was born in Strasburg, North Dakota on July 13, 1934.
Don is survived by his Daughter, Darla Castaneda; 4 Grandchildren, Michael, Stephen (Wife, Elicia), Jennifer (Husband, Matt Mallott) and Dave Castaneda, 4 Great-Grandchildren, Cloe, Kaleb, Hayden and Luke; Siblings, Pat Fettig and Wife, Diane, Harry Fettig and Wife, Jan, Tim Fettig and Wife, June, Linda and Husband, Dan Hobbick and many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his Parents, Frank and Theresa (Bichler) Fettig; a Sister, Nettie Plumbly and a Son, Dan Fettig.
Don was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous, celebrating 36years of sobriety. Over the years, he was able to mentor many and held the office of Treasure in the Corpus Christi Chapter. He graduated from Strasburg High School in 1952. After high school, he moved to Milwaukee and stayed with relatives while attending Marquette University. Don worked as a Sales Engineer for Allen Bradley and then for Powell Electric, after moving to Texas in the early 70’s. He also served in the Army from 1954-1956, being stationed in Kansas and Tennessee.
Don’s greatest personal accomplishment was to overcome his addiction to alcohol 36 years ago. He took great pride in using his experiences to sponsor others.
Don was an extraordinary man with a great sense of humor. He was much loved by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
