Charles Frank Roach
Charles “Charlie” Frank Roach, 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 11, 2016.
He was born on October 23, 1931, in Houston, Texas, and lived his entire life in the Houston area.Charles graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, Texas, in 1950. After high school, he played football for Sam Houston State Teachers College for one year. He later attended classes at University of Houston. Charles joined the Army Reserve National Guard and served for 14 years. He served on active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was honorably discharged in 1962, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Charles retired from civil service after 44 years, including his military service and working for the United States Postal Service, from which he retired in 1999.
Charles married Gloria Grant in 1964 in Humble, Texas. They were happily married for 53 years. He enjoyed classical music, anything having to do with history, and watching FOX news. He also entertained his family often with stories about his Aunt Bessie and her telephone. He was amazed by modern technology and loved playing games on his computer, researching on the Internet, and watching YouTube videos.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Nollie (Johnson) and William Clarence Roach, Sr., and his brothers, William “Bill” Clarence Roach, Jr. and Carl Roach.
Charles is survived by his wife, Gloria; his daughter, Cynthia Lemke; and his granddaughter, Erika Lemke.
